Designed by Thomas Jefferson and built in 1823, this 2-story court house has a classic Greek Revival architectural style with portico (of 4 columns) and pediment with design. Much of the core of the town was built in the next two decades in the Federal-style; many later 20th century buildings were also constructed in the style prevalent at the town?s inception. The interior had been much altered over the years; but in 1959, the building was renovated, making an effort to restore the interior to its original design. When the structure was built, the town of Charlotte Court House was called Marysville, not achieving its current name until 1901. The court scene in the movie Sommersby (early 1990s) with Jodie Foster and Richard Gere was filmed in this building (I was an extra in this movie, visible for 2 seconds in one scene.)

One of 27 radio antennas from the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) Very Large Array (VLA), Socorro, New Mexico, USA. The data from the antennas is combined electronically to give the resolution of an antenna 36km (22 miles) across, with the sensitivity of a dish 130 meters (422 feet) in diameter. This site was used for the movie 'Contact' starring Jodie Foster.

Mich : Thriller van Neil Jordan. Gelukkig dat Jodie Foster de hoofdrol speelt want zij houdt de film recht ..... Spannende, goed gemaakte thriller .... het scenario is soms wat zwak; maar als je dat er bij neemt en je er niet door laat ergeren , zit je wel op het puntje van je stoel. Het einde is wat zwak ... maar ja , hoe moet je aan deze film een goed einde maken .... Ik heb er toch van genoten

Erica Bain (Jodie Foster), een radiopresentatrice uit New York, houdt van haar leven en van haar verloofde nog meer. Dit alles wordt haar echter afgenomen wanneer ze het slachtoffer wordt van een brutale overval. Haar verloofde overleeft de overval niet en Erica blijft zwaargewond achter.
Omdat Erica maar niet over de tragedie heen raakt, trekt ze 's nachts de straat op, op zoek naar de daders. Haar donkere zoektocht naar gerechtigheid wekt de aandacht van de mensen en de hele stad raakt geboeid door haar anonieme daden.
Maar met de NYPD, die wanhopig op zoek is naar de daders, en een koppige politierechercheur (Oscargenomineerde Terrence Howard) die haar op de hielen zit, moet ze beslissen of haar zoektocht naar wraak wel degelijk de juiste keuze is. Of is ze net datgene aan het worden wat ze eigenlijk wil stoppen?
